Why is it so important that we act now to save our Environment. Suggest how we as individuals can make a change and recommend action that a government

As most of us are aware by now about Global Warming and we also know the effects it might it is capable of. The most harmful of and one of the most primary cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas). But, the world is going to be un-stable and the world will fall for another economic-recession and this time the recession is going to be so deep that it will a few more decades to recover. But, this is only one side of the debate. If the world keeps on using fossil fuels like this then there is no guarantee that the generation after us will be evan able to live 2/3 of our ages. Not only that, my country Bangladesh is going to be half sinked because of the melting ice-water.
Population is increasing ant therefore people are cutting more and more trees everyday. This is causing excessive carbon dioxide in the air . This is therefore causing the ozone layers to open. The atmosphere is getting damaged. This cause increase in heat and temperature and therefore causes the ice to melt.
The increasing heat all over the the world have caused the the ice-caps in the north and south pole to melt. Latest researches by scientists say that the water can rise up-to 20 feet high. Therefore causing some of the low-land countries to sink. Maldives is one of the country in the world to sink in the next few years completely. Below are some of the most harmful affects of Global Warming and the suggestions to control them :-
1) The Melting Ice Caps.
It is said that there is an approximate of 5,773,000 cubic miles of water in the ice caps and there fore if they all started to rain all at one go then the ocean was to rise by 230 feet of water. Luckily, it is going to happen in several years. But, it is going to happen eventually .
2) Economic Loss.
Global Warming will cause a lot of natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and etc. This causes billion and billion dollars of damage.
3) Drought.
It is believed that because of the increasing climate change there will be short of fresh water and drought all over the world. Africa will suffer most from the drought including some parts of Europe. There is a probability of conflicts and war as water is already a rare commodity in Africa today.
4) Diseases.
Diseases will spread a lot faster now because of the continuous variation in weather therefore causing the disease carrying insects and animals to migrate more frequently.
Now, what is the solution then to all of these problems ???? well does Global warming evan have any positve effect other then negative ?
The answer is simple NO. Global warming is already taking place and most probably by the end of my lifetime I will see some extremism of it. So, Is there any way we can help? Yes, we can help to reduce the effect of Global warming by taking action. eg. Toyota have invented Hybrid cars, this can be a very good substitute to the cars using fossil fuels. In China schools use computers for heir school work other then just using papers and wasting them. In the same way we can help by using Non-Cfc bulbs and using more re-cycled products. We might not be able to stop it but we might still be able to prevent it from showing the worst of it and still make our future generation live a safer life. So, We NEED TO ACT NOW !!!

Copenhagen Summit 2009

This was a meeting held last year December . It was a meeting which consisted of almost the leaders of every country in the world . It was a very important meeting because after lots of debate on 'Global Warming' finally the whole world had got together and discussed among themselves . This also included the leading environment activists of the world . After about one and a half week of meeting the whole world had agreed to just increase the temperature by 2 degrees more . Next year a similar meeting will be held in Mexico City in Mexico .
This meeting was just not like another G8 or G20 summit . This particular meeting was first started with the 'COP 15' consisting of the leading top 15 countries of the world . But , later UN had organized the ultimate meeting for global awareness .

'The Story of Stuff ' by Annie Leonard

'The Story of Stuff' is short film of approximate 21minutes narrated by activist Annie Leonard . It is an animated documentry about the life-cycle of products which we use . The documentry mainly focuses on the American consumers the way they keep on buying products and waste them . It aso shows how the world is actually going through eco-logical overdraft . But the most important message this documentry contains is how any product in the world is being manufactured . By watching this documentry anybody will have an idea how effective nowadays production has become . Most importantly every point she made was exactly to the point . What I would say is that evryne who cares for our earth should see this video on youtube .

Some Important Questions !

1) Why is the earth on 'Ecological Overdraft'

Ans:- 'Ecological Overdraft' is the point on which the human consumption of the earth is based on each year . For the past few years the consumption of human was on the red line . This means that the world's human consumption has been consuming more then the earth is capable to provide and therefore it is an 'Ecological Overdraft' .

2) What do you think 'Carbon Footprint ' means ?

Ans:- It is the amount of carbon dioxide or the total amount of green house gas emissions caused by each individual , product , organization or an area .

Environment Protection Agency (E.P.A.)

Environment Protection Agency (E.P.A.) is an American firm who serves all around the world and helps to make aware about the change in the environment . There are lots of other organizations like this all over the world . It have affected a lot since it first started in December 2, 1970 . Today on Earth day they have published their special update about the 'Environment & Human Safety ' .
Green Tip Transcripts :-
1 - Reduce your carbon footprint! Leaving your car at home twice a week can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 pounds per year. Save up errands and shopping trips so you need to drive fewer times. If you commute to work, ask if you can work from home at least some days, and you'll reduce air pollution and traffic congestion - and save money.Play the podcast (MP3, 724KB, runtime 0:44) Reduce greenhouse gases on the road.
2 - Protect yourself from sun overexposure! In summer, always apply sun block SPF 15 or more to protect your skin from solar UV radiation. Just five or more sunburns can really increase your risk of developing skin cancer. The sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. so at the times, seek shade or wear protective clothing such as a long-sleeved shirt.Play the podcast (MP3, 828KB, runtime 0:51) Sign up to get free UV alerts.
3 - Don't idle! Remind your school system to turn off bus engines when buses are parked. Exhaust from idling school buses can pollute air in and around the bus, and can enter school buildings through air intakes, doors, and open windows. Constant idling also wastes fuel and money, and school bus engines really need only a few minutes to warm up.Play the podcast (MP3, 693KB, runtime 0:42) More about reducing engine idling.
4 - Heading to the beach? Check out the beach water before you go! We Americans take almost two billion trips to the beach every year, but people who swim at the beach sometimes get sick because the water is polluted. The good news is in the state where the beach is located, you can check with the state office to find out about the beach water - before you go.Play the podcast (MP3, 730KB, runtime 0:45) Beach water quality where you live.
5 - Make it a full load! Run your dishwasher only when it's full. Don't pre-rinse dishes - tests show pre-rinsing doesn't improve dishwasher cleaning, and you'll save as much as 20 gallons of water per load. When you buy a new dishwasher, look for one that saves water. Water-efficient models use only about only about 4 gallons per wash.Play the podcast (MP3, 647KB, runtime 0:39) More about using water wisely.

They have evan more Environment safety rules . But I have just noted down the top five awarnesses . If you want to see more of them then you ca go to their website in :- WWW.environmentprotectionagency.ik/awareness

11TH Hour - 'The Documentry'

Another documentry about Global-Warming . But , unlike Baraka this is narrated and is more descriptive with some of the leading International Eco-Friendly People . But , the message is still the same for both of the movies , their objective is clear that is Global Warming !! Once again we need to remember that this is our world and we need to stand up for our mistakes . It is up to us to save our planet and make it a safe world to live in for the coming generations .

"Baraka" A powerful display about the Earth

This movie is a very good show about the earth and it's Living Organisms . This movie conveys a very important message that the earth is actually infected and infected because of it's own living organisms . "Baraka" means blessing in Judaism . The movie first starts with a display of rural , religious people and slowly it moves to the urban , industrialized side of the world . It also shows the variance in population from rural to urban , and a display of mankind's elements of destruction .
